Indian River County families and community members are invited to experience the premiere of The Moonshot Story on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Riverside Theatre. Two complimentary showings will be offered at 4 PM and 6 PM. The inspiring one-hour documentary, produced by The Children’s Literacy Project, chronicles Indian River County’s rise as a leading literacy capital and highlights the people and partnerships fueling this bold work.
Presented by The Learning Alliance in partnership with Riverside Theatre, the evening will bring together education, philanthropy, government, and community leaders united in their shared commitment to ensuring every child is prepared to thrive.
Guests will hear remarks from distinguished speakers including Dr. David Moore, Superintendent of the School District of Indian River County, former AOL President Ray Oglethorpe, SDIRC School Board member and former Fortune 500 CEO David Dyer, educator and philanthropy advocate Wanda Lincoln, McDonald-Anderson Foundation President David McDonald, and The Learning Alliance Chief Executive Officer Barbara Hammond.
The Moonshot Story showcases the collaborative spirit that defines Indian River County’s approach to literacy, demonstrating how schools, families, nonprofit partners, business leaders, and volunteers are working together to address the nation’s reading crisis and open new doors of opportunity for children.
